CNC Sample: Concept & Design

Assignment Description:

We will be working (in pairs) to design and eventually fabricate a sample, in foam, on the small CNC machine. For this assignment, you will brainstorm, sketch, and design (in rhino) a sample to be cut on the CNC machine in pink foam.

Design Requirements:

1.) Your design must fit within a 6" x 4" x 1" envelope. Make use of as much of this space as possible!

2.) Avoid creating under-cuts as our 3-axis CNC machine will not be able to create them.

Assignment Requirements:

1.) In terms of the concept for this assignment, anything goes, so long as you take the following steps:

a.) Brainstorm - sketch a multitude of potential concepts for your design. You'll have to agree upon a final design with your partner.

b.) Select a concept and refine your ideas with a final sketch/drawing.

c.) Create your design in Rhino3D - making sure the final result is a closed polysurface

2.) Document all of the above in a new Process Blog post. It is okay to share images with your partner, but each of you are responsible for this documentation.

3.) Include with this documentation a brief description/explanation of each image.
