Assignment Description:

Use the Vinyl Plotter/Cutter in the Thing Tank to cut your final design in Vinyl. Then, transfer it to your designated object/surface. You may also use the vinyl as a stencil, mask or resist in a program-area process (i.e. JWLM, GLASS, SCULPTURE, ETC.) Document your process (photos, screenshots, etc) through this assignment in a Process Blog entry.

Assignment Requirements:

1.) Export your design from Rhino as an .AI file.

a.) Be sure

b.) If scale is crucial for your design, be sure to dial that in in Rhino before exporting.

2.) Import your design into Sure Cuts a Lot on the white iMac in the Thing Tank.

3.) Prepare vinyl in the plotter, and zero the cutting tool at the lower right-hand corner of the vinyl sheet.

4.) Send your design to the cutter (Cutter > Cut with US Cutter)

a.) make sure the "Cut Mode" setting is set to "Origin Point"

a.) make sure the "Holder" setting is set to "Blade"

5.) Weed your vinyl and apply the transfer tape to it.

6.) Transfer your vinyl onto the desired surface / object.

7.) Document this process on your Process Blog.
