Exploration of quantum transport in nanoscale devices – impossible to explain with conventional theoretical physics
Simulation of EL-QD-based quantum transport model (EL-QD
Quantum transport modeling is generally defined as a self-consistent process between calculating the electron density using the Schrodinger equation and calculating the space charge effect using the nonlinear Poisson equation.
Predict and analyze various phenomena that appear in ideal situations through numerical simulation.
Previous reported simulation results: only on a channel filled with homogeneous material
The conventional models such as drift-diffusion transport not adequate to model the new breed of quantum devices where the quantum effects of a single electron can play a significant part in a device’s operation. In general, quantum physics is concerned with processes which involve discrete energies and quanta (i.e., single particles such as the photon). The motion and behavior of quantum processes can be described by the Schrödinger equation.
