The Northern Region ENL PLC began in 2012 when Central New York ENL professionals chose Laura Stevens to lead the group for the purpose of providing support to ENL professionals who may feel isolated and alone in a small rural or suburban setting. Over the years the desire of the group grew continuously build and expand a culture of collaboration and community while increasing our sphere of influence with ENL professionals, students, families, the community, general education teachers and education leaders. This website is the result of our desire to help school leaders of ELLs, especially those in rural and suburban school districts in NYS:
The New York State Education Department has posted new literacy briefs discussing the Science of Reading. The new literacy briefs were created to explain evidence-based literacy practices in PK-12 education.
