December 1969
Stephen Howarth Elwyn Edwards Mr Gwyn Neale Eryl Powell
Rhianwen Roberts Jennifer Thomas Nerys Jones Jackie Waite Sian Morgan Jones
This production was put on at the new School in December 1969. Rhianwen was the promptress, and she got very cross when I forgot my lines. I still remember her glaring at me.
I think the play was something about Pontius Pilate trying Jesus, but the only thing I can remember is the word "Rufidi" - some ancient tribe or other?
We seemed to rehearse for weeks, and it was always cold and misty around the bridge after school while we waited to go to rehearsals. The graveyard of the old church on the river looked dead spooky with the gravestones standing out of the mist!
Rhianwen lived on a farm in Glan Conway, Jennifer at the primary school in Dinmael, Nerys near the school in Llanrwst, Jackie at Gwydyr Uchaf, and Sian in Llangernyw.
Elwyn was an excellent centre-half, and I think he lived in the highest house on the whole of the A5, on the way to Cerrig.
This play was about 1967, it included Dave Moore, Ann Corrie, Alwena Williams, Jennifer Thomas, Eunice Roberts, Elizabeth Grodzicki, Derek Brown and a dog.
