I wonder why Eddie wasn't in goal? He always was after this. Eddie's eyesight wasn't brilliant, so whenever we scored a goal, I had to run back to him to tell him who had scored. This became so much of a habit that I did it in my first couple of games for Bangor Normal - much to the confusion of the Bangor Normal keeper, who said he already knew who had scored!

I remember a game at Gwydyr Park, I was injured and standing behind Eddie's goal, no nets, when the ball sailed over him, he turned, the ball hit the bar, Eddie's forehead, and nestled in my arms. Own goal. He didn't seem to find it as funny as I did.

George doesn't seem the obvious candidate for goalkeeper. I remember he moved to Perth, Australia, very soon after this.

Danny Roberts moved to Ruthin a couple of years later, which was probably a good job for me as we did tend to get into trouble together. One day, just before our French lesson, I grabbed Danny and pulled him into the boys toilets, running the water in the sink. "Quick, Danny!" , said, " I've got Hicksey's French book here! Put it under the water and all the ink will run!"

Danny did this gleefully, and turned the book over to read on the cover - "Danny Roberts, French".

He was colour-blind, but didn't want anyone to know, so whenever he cad to colour in mountains and lowlands in Geography, he used to ask me for the appropriate pencil. I sometimes gave him the correct colour.

Amazingly, on my first day at Bangor Normal College, in 1970, I was allocated a single room, and took my stuff up to it, to find somebody else's stuff already there. Who should then walk in but Danny, who had left his stuff in the wrong room! Neither of us knew the other was going to BNC! We had some great times over the next 3 years, and I wonder where he is now? If anyone has his contact details, please let me know. Do you know how many Danny Robertses there are on Facebook!?!?
