EOAS and the Climate Emergency

Report on the First EOAS Climate Dialogue

In April 2020, EOAS Grad Council hosted our first Department-wide dialogue on UBC's response to the Climate Emergency, as part of the UBC-wide engagement process on forming a strategic plan for addressing the climate emergency.

A wide range of actions and recommendations for climate action, at both the department and university level, emerged from the discussion. These actions fell across four broad categories: (1) Research, Teaching, and Learning, (2) Policy and Civic Engagement, (3) Sustainable Industry Partnerships, and (4) Campus Operations. These recommendations will be used as a guide for finding the most effective means by which our department can contribute to climate solutions at UBC and beyond.

Read below for the executive summary, outlining the key over-arching goals and cross-cutting themes resulting from the Dialogue.
