I used to contemplate the biblical saying "I am that I am." As I evolved in my mystical studies, I realized that "I Am" signified unity or oneness as well as the present moment, the "now." When one is in the "now" he/she is in the flow, letting Spirit move through them, a more perfect state than focusing on the past (I was) or contemplating the future (I will), both aspects of duality. "I am that I am" now seems to me that in a state of cosmic consciousness or Self-realization one is aware that he or she is "that," the object of attention, and at a more universal level, "everything and everyone," the All. The following are 23 three-line poems that address "where I Am" when I am not in a dual consciousness separate from the Source.
When the sky falls
and the earth rises
there I Am.
When the breath
becomes non-breath
there I Am.
When the mode of transportation
is stillness
there I Am.
When the pendulum
no longer swings
there I Am.
Where all lines
come together
there I Am.
When the joy in the heart
becomes eternal bliss
there I Am.
When the road you are traveling
is where you are
there I Am.
When that which is eternal
stops thinking of dying
there I Am.
When activity
becomes stillness
there I Am.
When the mind cannot conceive
of past or future
there I Am.
Where there is no room
for two of anything
there I Am.
When the scales
are perfectly balanced
there I Am.
When the only digit
is number 1
there I Am.
When religion becomes
the worship of everyone
there I Am.
When the God you are seeking
is your very Self
there I Am.
When you rise
from your own ashes
there I Am.
When the mind stops
in mid-sentence
there I Am.
When the sun
shines within
there I Am.
When there is no hot
and there is no cold
there I Am.
When the circle
is obliterated
there I Am.
When the seen
becomes the seer
there I Am.
When you drop
the cross of negativity
there I Am.
When the theater you are sitting in
is witness consciousness
there I Am.
