An invocation generally opens some type of spiritual session - a convocation, gathering, talk, or personal meditation. It calls upon a higher aspect of ourselves to infuse our beings and make us ready for work and worship. I became familiar with invocations when I participated in Rosicrucian convocations and loved reading them when I was master of Johannes Kelpius Lodge, AMORC. Sometimes I would write them when inspired to use before prayer and meditation. Below is one I love that I wrote in November 2004.
.
INVOCATION TO THE HOLY SPIRITO holy ever present Spirit,O perfect creative power,Please let me be consciousThat my thoughts mold youAccording to my beliefsAnd can manifest good thingsAs well as trying experiences.O holy ever present Spirit,May I ever be receptiveTo your powerful presenceAnd to the harmony,And to the wholenessThat radiates from your Light.O holy ever present Spirit,May I not interfereWith that which is perfect,Or resist that which is wiser,But instead may I surrenderMy tendency to controlSo that I am an instrumentfor thy divine will.O holy ever present Spirit,May I work in perfect unityWith your divine expression,So that which is spiritualInfuses that which is materialAnd returns to the SourceIts most perfect effect.
