Mother Aren't You

Because of the ones looking up at the skies

and the ones with kissed-away tears

and the ones for whom,

having been schooled

in alternate endings

(Lindbergh landings in Le Bourget

or infant Lindberghs who shall never take flight

or the black-and-white renderings of executioners’ justice),

you chose the perfect finale

for just this Isabella child for

just this moment in mother time

and sailed straight into the Le Bourget of my skies
