Because of you
my immune system is compromised.
Not the you on display for anyone to see
beneath a grainy March sky
but the ruthless one
secretly mixing it up
with my potassium & calcium,
June-orange summer pants & lethal rouge
catalyzing the blood,
boiling up drop by drop
this unstopped utterance or that.
Please stop, stop, stop this refrain.
I admit the daily catalogs of pandemic
& nights filled with gulls shrieking
over capsized cellular order.
More of the same tomorrow
& still the promise of unstopped you
persists along some superheated axis,
stoking thirst by sleight of smile
insinuated
into subsurface rattle & foam.
What bubbles up is the voice
of compromise, lyrical & fat.
Please stop, stop, stop by again.
