Teatime at the Obsidian Event Horizon

This notional universe may be notionally finite

and Earth's gravity a footnote force

in an expansive essay on light-oceans

But with measured lashes you

insinuate, spin, shimmer

irradiating little pulsar-eyes

Shown thus to be porous in the extreme

still I sail for you in a catamaran:

we shall sip tea on the high plains

but I cannot hold the two of you at once.

When I release that clumsy vastness --

needy and jealous as the universe can be --

for the approximate smallness of you

we are finite as summer blueberry tea

steeped in notions of sticky perfection\
