FAQ (Assgt 1)
Frequently asked questions for Assignment 1 (Deconstruction essay)
This will serve as a record of your questions. State your questions below.
Q: The assignment requires us to write about an experience "as students in primary/secondary schools". Since I am in the PGDE (Sec) programme, do I have to select a secondary school experience?
A: No, the important thing is to recall an experience as a student. It does not matter when the event took place. You may also describe something that happened in junior college, university, etc.
Q: What is the procedure for submitting the assignment?
A: The procedure is:
- Submit a draft to SafeAssign via GeNIEus/Blackboard before Session 5
- Prepare your declaration page/coversheet (see attachment below)
- Name your assignment file with the following format:
- qed524-decon-tg##-surname_rest_of_name.doc
- e.g., qed524-decon-tg44-lim_chong_bee.doc, qed524-decon-tg09-nur_shahira_binte_hamdan.doc, qed524-decon-tg10-vinothi_do_subramaniam.doc
- filenames and extensions in lower case
- the assignment file should not include the cover page
- Bring your assignment in a thumbdrive to class during Session 5
- Copy your assignment file to the assigned computer in class and submit a signed hardcopy of the declaration page to your tutor
Q: When can I start submitting my draft of my assignment?
A: The SafeAssign submission area will be available in GeNIEus/Blackboard on the afternoon of Wed, 18 Nov 09.
Q: What is challenging classroom situation(s)? Could you provide some examples.
A: You will need to identify these yourself from your personal experience. What is challenging to one might not be to another. The scenarios/cases, videos, content from the last few weeks and the assignment question itself should provide clues on the directions you might take.
Q: What is "provision for students difference?". Can i say that in a class if there are strong and weak students in say Chinese language, we need to think of way to overcome this difference?
A: "Provision of learner differences" is what the question states. You might mention that depending on the experience you wish to share. Bear in mind that this is not just a reflective paper; it is an essay where you have to apply principles you pick up from the course.
Q: Do we need to include the references in our documents?
A: Yes, as and when needed.
Q: Do we need to use all three aspects when addressing the issues, or just whichever is relevant to our case?
A: Yes, you must address all three aspects.
