Reckless Fury

The waves mount high into the night,

Lightning lashes against their crests.

Alone, I struggle with my might,

The furied storm to best.

I flounder against the raging swell,

Fear growing with the ache in chest.

I had known the danger well,

Had known my little quaking ship

Could not this tempest quell.

It pitched me to the ocean’s grip,

My recklessness to punish

And I in anguish watch it tip

To join the panicking fish.

I fight, determined to complete

The quest that drove my wish,

In life or death my fate to meet.

Unwavering I fight on with fury

At long last when the storm breaks

Will a shore I see?
