Nguyễn Thiên Đạo
Nguyễn Thiện Đạo sinh năm 1940 tại Hà Nội, sang Pháp năm 1953, đoạt giải nhất môn sáng tác năm 1967 tại Nhạc viện quốc gia Paris (lớp của Oliver Messiaen). Trong đầu luôn bị dòng nhạc phức điệu “thần tiên ma quỷ” ám ảnh, ông kết hợp hai dòng nhạc Đông-Tây và được nhận định là người kế thừa hai nền văn minh Đông và Tây. “Dân tộc đích thực, nhân loại tiên phong” là châm ngôn của ông. Đã sáng tác gần 70 tác phẩm khí nhạc đủ loại từ độc tấu, tứ tấu, concerto, giao hưởng, opera v.v... và được biểu diễn tại nhiều nước trên thế giới. Khoảng 70 cuốn sách và từ điển danh nhân thế giới đã đề cập đến thành tích âm nhạc của ông. Hiện nay ông đang sáng tác tác phẩm “sóng thần” (giao hưởng, hợp xướng và lĩnh xướng) ngợi ca hào khí dân tộc.
Nguyen Thien Dao was born in Hanoi, Vietnam in 1940. He arrived in France in 1953, entered the Conservatory National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 1963. His decisive meeting with Olivier Messiaen, in 1967, in whose class he received the 1st prize for composition, led him to discovering the path that would become his own. At first filled with imagines from his childhood and long meditations on nature, possessed by “celestial and woolly imaginary polyphony” and then Vietnamese and Chinese poetry, he sees himself as “heir to two civilizations; oriental and occidental”, He try to “work out a synthesis by constructing a music based in micro intervals, sound colours, rhythmic structure and time duration. He hopes to be seen as a creator of a “lirycal, passionate music of an epic character”, constanly concerned with “demanding requirements of musical craft and form”.
