I have had a very beneficial collaboration with Irene Carter, who is my colleague at the School of Social Work. My interest in family resilience and her interest in families with members who have intellectual disabilities resulted in two qualitative research studies which examined resilience in young-adult siblings of children with autism and also coping skills in families with adult children who have intellectual disabilities.
The following publications report findings from our research.
Carter, I., Coyle, J., Currie, B. A., & Cragg, S. (2014). Exploring resiliency in parents and families of adult children:
Living at home with a dual diagnosis. Professional Development: The International Journal of Continuing Social
Work Education, 17(2), 29-42.
Coyle, J. P., & Carter, I. (2016). Costruire la reslienza in famiglie al cui interno vi sono persone con disabilitĂ

sociale, 15 (1), 30-34. (This article presents the content of our 2015 paper presentation at the Pathways to Resilience III conference, which is attached below.)
