The Double Eagle Golf Club has started a new mid-week golf competition to be played from September to December 2026.
The series is run by he DEGC Captain 2026 - James Marinopoulos (0404 883 425)
This year's inaugural competition will be called the DEGC Mid-Week Spring 2026 Series.
The series will consist of eight 18-hole rounds, played every second Wednesday from 2 September to 9 December 2026 (see schedule below).
There are only 8 spots available each round!
Starting times will vary depending on availability, however, the aim is between 10AM to no later than 1PM pm start.
Members wishing to participate can register their interest via the DEGC app for each game.
If there are more than eight membersinterested then please register as an emergency.
The average course cost will be approximately $40 ($35 for seniors). Please indicate if you have a senior's card to the Captain.
All funds spent on mid-week green fees will be shown through the Profile page on the DEGC app.
All non-green fee costs will be the responsibility of the individual member eg carts, food, drinks.
If a player withdraws after a booking has been made, they remain responsible for any green fees, booking deposits, or costs incurred on their behalf.
The games will be played across a variety of public-access golf courses in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. (See potential courses and indicative pricing below).
Each game will have a maximum of 8 players (two groups) and a minimum of 4 players (one group). In the event that nominations exceed the available places, the Captain will have sole discretion in determining the final field. Preference will generally be given to members who registered early or remain eligible to contend for the Order of Merit.
Courses will be booked 7 days before each game by James Marinopoulos (DEGC Captain) based on the number of attending members. The starting time will depend on availability, but will be in the morning (between 10AM and 1PM).
Courses will be subject to availability and are subject to change and may be booked twice in the 8 game series.
The games and courses have been selected such that all participants are expected to walk. Should a motorised cart be required by a member, the cost will be the sole responsibility of the member concerned.
An individual game may become fully carted if deemed appropriate by the Captain. (eg final event at a course not provided below).
The rules, procedures and costs apply to the competition in its current format. These arrangements may be reviewed and amended should member demand increase, including consideration of an increase in the maximum number of players per game.
Individual Stableford scoring will be used for all rounds.
All rounds are subject to DEGC Tournament rules.
All rounds will be lodged in the GA Handicap database (which calculates your handicap).
Scores will be recorded in Squabbit and tallied in the DEGC Captain’s competition spreadsheet.
Additional team events may be created based on individual scores eg Pairs Satbleford.
The final Order of Merit will be determined by the highest points in the best 6 scores.
If the competition is deemed successful then an 8 game competition will played each Autumn and Spring. The Spring competition would be run from 3 Feb 2027 to 12 May 2027
