Year 2019: Shiyao Li, a PhD student, awarded the UCC SEFS PG Travel Bursary 2019-2020 (500 Euros).

Year 2018: George Vathakkattil Joseph, Best PhD student presentation award in The 5th Workshop in Devices, Materials, and Structures for Energy Harvesting and Storage for the work entitled "Fragility Analysis Using Energy Harvesters" supervised by Vikram Pakrashi (UCD) and Guangbo Hao (UCC).

Year 2017: Abhilash NAYAK (PhD student in Ecole Centrale de Nantes), and Haiyang LI (PhD student in UCC), under the supervision of Dr. Hao (UCC) and Dr. Stéphane CARO (CNRS), finalists in the 2017 ASME Student Mechanism & Robotics Design Competition for their work: A NOVEL RECONFIGURABLE COMPLIANT GRIPPER (1 out of 6 teams selected for the graduate category in the world, and travel grant provided for travelling to Ohio, USA)

Year 2017: UCC 2nd-year PCE student Mr. Heraldas Vaivada was awarded the UCC Summer Bursary 2017 for his 8-week project under the supervision of Dr. Hao. 

Year 2016: Tim Farrell and Sean Finn, EEE final year project students, finalists in the 2016 ASME Student Mechanism & Robotics Design Competition for their work: “Development of a Bistable Origami Coronary Stent Actuated by Shape Memory Wire” (1 out of 6 teams selected for the undergraduate category in the world, and travel grant provided for travelling to USA, finally achieved an Award for Extraordinary Effort)

Year 2016: UCC 2nd-year EEE student Mr. Mehdi Riza was awarded the UCC Summer Bursary 2016 for his 8-week project under the supervision of Dr. Hao.

Year 2016: PhD student George V. Joseph was awarded a 3-month Summer Internship in Advanced Institute of Manufacturing with High-Tech Innovations, National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan.

Year 2016: PhD student Haiyang Li was awarded full travel grant for attending Workshop on Software and Applications of Algebraic Geometry in Notre Dame University, USA

Year 2015: PhD student Mr. Haiyang Li shortlisted for the prestigious "2015 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad", 1 out of 7 recommended by Section of Education Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Ireland.
