holy days

today of all days,

do not be concerned with the everyday.

surround yourself instead

with the hush that falls

outside when everyone else is in.

seek out vastness

when all the world seems

small and petty.

choose the high, hard path,

the one that climbs up through the rocks

into the thin, thin air.

then, heart pounding, terrified,

and out of breath,

open up and let the world fall away

until the holy in you

cannot be stopped from reaching out

for the holy all around you.
