Audio
Audio is one of the few digital formats that is supported by an international digital cinema standard, established by the Digital Cinema Initiative in 2008. Distribution to a digital cinema requires that the master distribution package (audio, video and metadata together) use the uncompressed audio Broadcast Wave format (.wav), which must contain:
Metadata of the first audio data sample.
A continuous frame count relative to image.
The sample rate for distribution in digital cinemas.
If distribution will be to other venues and .wav is not an option, select lossless, and open-source formats.
