Stacked Graph Visualization from Approx. 1955

Here is a modern version of the same stacked graph using Many Eyes:

Perhaps not the best choice of colors, but I find this use of stacked graph for population and occupation quite amazing. As you might notice, there is an occupation named Emergency Work that is only present around 1921-1925 and 1936-38. I am not sure, but at least the last of these two are probably because of the second world war.

On the right is a photo I snapped on a trip to Odda (Tyssedal), at "Norsk Vasskraft- og Industristadmuseum". It's just cool being reminded that stacked graphs, or many visualizations for that matter, is not something new and of the computer area. Here is a stacked graph visualization I found in Odda, Norway.
