We made a train and a cart attached to it. The train was made of pre-dimensioned drawing that would need to be created and assembled. We had to use different views to dimension the parts, these views ranged from section views, which show inside a part, and detail views, which show a small feature in detail. After finishing the part then we had to create a train cart that could attach to the train. The cart needed 5 new parts, and 6 modeling tools. the tools that I used are circular pattern, thread, rectangular pattern, extrusion, revolution, fillet, and hole. Drawings did not have to be dimensioned but they needed to include all the views necessary if we were to dimension it.
We learned a lot about different view types. Detail views are used to show a feature in detail, section views show inside a part, and auxiliary views show a slanted surface. We had to use these views to be able to completely dimension part. We used section views to dimension the wheel, we used auxiliary views to dimension the cow catcher, and we had to use a section view to dimension the stack. I liked when we were designing the train cart because we were only constrained by a few restraints. We could make our cart look like anything that we wanted to do, and we could do it any we we could want to. This freedom was very fun and it allowed us to actually make something that would be ours instead of some instructions. Of course, instructions still help, and what we create with them is very interesting, but it is not truly our own creation.
