The Deposit Fire Department is organized to prevent the loss of life and property from fire, to provide rescue and pre-hospital care in life threatening situations and provide confinement and suppression in the event of fire. This is a responsibility we take very seriously. The best way to help ensure public safety is through prevention and pre-incident planning. Our Firefighters and E.M.S. Providers spend countless hours each year out in our community providing public safety education through talks, demonstrations, training and much more. Throughout the year, they can also be found in our community updating pre-plans for high risk areas within the municipalities we proudly serve. That way, should an emergency occur there, our Firefighters and E.M.S. Providers are better prepared to handle those emergencies and don’t have to make as many split-second decisions as the incident is developing. Our most valued assets are our members. Each member brings special talents and training to our department. We are fortunate to be able to provide a wide range of services to the communities we serve including fire confinement and suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials release response, pre-hospital emergency medical care and of course, prevention and pre-planning. Our department would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for those who served before us. Our department has a rich history and is the second oldest department in Broome County. We will always cherish our rich history as we advance into the future.
