Prevention and Pre-Planning
The Deposit Fire Department is proud to be rated as a Class 3 Department by the Insurance Services Office.
Our Prevention and Pre-Planning Division is responsible for handling a wide variety of tasks. This division manages all of our public relations events, trainings, special event coverage and pre-planning. Our Prevention and Pre-Planning division works with different community organizations and businesses to offer demonstrations, trainings and station tours. Some of these organizations and businesses include the Deposit Central School District, Deposit Head Start, Wilson Children's Center, Deposit Senior Center, ADEC Solutions and EZ-RED Tools.
Through our pre-incident planning, we strive to improve community safety and reduce risk. We partner with our water department, code enforcement office and ISO to conduct routine community risk assessments. Our Prevention and Pre-Planning Division also sets up walkthroughs of local business and neighborhoods to help our firefighters identify tactics and strategies for managing emergencies in these specific locations. Our Prevention and Pre-Planning Division works with community members, organizations and our municipal partners in designing pre-plans for large community events and coordinates safety meetings pertaining to those events.
The Deposit Fire Department partners with the American Red Cross The American Red Cross is making homes safer through the Home Fire Campaign. With the help of local volunteers and partners, we’re installing free smoke alarms in homes that don’t have them, and educating people about fire safety.
Throughout the year, our department provides special event coverage for many community events. These events include but are not limited to festivals, street fairs, circuses, parades, concerts, sporting events and fireworks events.
