Elluminate
Documentation/How-Tos:
What is It?Elluminate is a web-based, live online virtual classroom environment. You and your students simply need a web link and a live Internet connection to be able to meet live in a virtual room. Anyone in the room can then see a whiteboard you can annotate or load poweproint presentations into, as well as a text chat area, webcam feed as well as live audio form your or your students microphones. In addition, there are capabilities to share your computer's desktop or program windows, or view theirs, live quizzes or polling, web tours, file transfers and more.
What Access do We Have to it at NC State?
NC State currently has a limited license to Elluminate, allowing us to generate new individual Elluminate virtual rooms for each NC State faculty member as requested. We can have an unlimited number of simultaneous students and faculty using their Elluminate rooms at any time.

You will then receive an e-mail with two web links - one will be the link you use to access the room and have full control ("moderator" access) and one will be what you give to your students ("participant" access) to access the room. In addition, there will also be the link to access any recording made in your room.
Moderator Getting Started Document
At a minimum, you will need some sort of microphone, headphones and or webcam for your computer to fully utilize Elluminate as an Instructor. Many newer laptops have integrated webcams and mics, but an external mic will typically deliver much better sound quality. The DL Department may be able to offer short term loaner mics/webcam but if you will be making regular use of it, having your department purchase them is highly recommended:
Recommended Headphones
Koss UR-20 (~$19)
Senneheiser HD 201 (~$29)
Recommended Mics
Logitech USB Microphone (~$29)
Great sound and price, but need headphones with it
Good all in one with solid sound and comfortable headphones
Blue USB Snowflake Mic (~$70)
Top of the line sound quality!!! Still need headphones tho.
Recommended Webcam/Mics
Microsoft Lifecam VX3000 (~$39)
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (~$89)
Blue Eyeball (~$99)
