High School Equivalency Program
The national High School Equivalency Program was initially funded in 1968 by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Migrant Education. HEP students are provided with a approved HSED ( formerly GED) curriculum, plus career counseling to prepare them for their HSED diploma.
The HEP program has been a program in the Cross Cultural Resource Center and the College of Education at Sac State for 20 years, since 1994. They have outreach centers in Dixon, Stockton, Galt, Lodi and Woodland.
The graduation this year was on June 20, at the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento. The Commencement address was by Carlos González Gutierrez, the Consul General. Dr. Maggie Beddow, Director of the Sacrament HEP program was the Master of Ceremonies assisted by the staff of the program.
