For those who do NOT experience migraines, it is often very difficult to explain what they are like and how they impact your day. When people ask me about my migraines, I have a practically scripted answer. I answer using my two line response: "I have chronic migraines. They mimic the symptoms of strokes and seizures but are not strokes and seizures. Every symptom is fully reversible and much less severe, but they significantly interfere with my life." Usually, this response is a sufficient answer. Sometimes, people want to understand, and inquire more deeply.
Here are two resources I've found that help explain what living with chronic migraines is like:
Migraine Excedrin Simulator: Video #1 and Video #2.
Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino. This is not specifically about migraines, but helps explain what a day with chronic illness looks like.
