There have been several rumors surrounding Natural Gas in Deacons Walk, that are mostly not true.
Drummond North is getting Natural Gas - True
This is true. Drummond North was successful in obtaining the required number of applications and refundable deposits for Delmarva to install Natural Gas lines through the entire neighborhood.
The Bluffs are getting Natural Gas - Maybe
In 2012 we heard that a portion of Drummond North and The Bluffs were switching to Natural Gas together, and that some residents of Deacons Walk would be able to have access to the Natural Gas main installed to deliver gas to The Bluffs. However, whatever there was to this arrangement fell apart and no Natural Gas was ever delivered. I talked to the property manager of The Bluffs, and was told that there was a rumor that the apartment complex would switch to Natural Gas, however nothing is set in stone.
Once The Bluffs switch to Natural Gas, residents along Sheldon Drive will be able to access the Natural Gas main along Sheldon Drive. - False
Although this may have been true in the past, in talking with Delmarva if The Bluffs switch to Natural Gas they will be supplied through the back of Drummond North and the Natural Gas main will NOT pass through Deacons Walk.
Drummond Hill is remodeling and switching to Natural Gas - Done
Drummond Hill Apartments switched to Natural Gas in the Fall of 2015, to expand system capacity the Commercial Natural Gas Unit added Natural Gas Main along Worral Dr between Sheldon and Ware. Residents living in this area are now able to connect to that existing main. All other residents of Deacons Walk must come up with 65 applications and deposits for Natural Gas mains to be installed in the rest of the neighborhood.
Meeting House Hill is getting Natural Gas - Maybe
Meeting House Hill is also going through the process of accessing the feasibility of installing Natural Gas mains. If they are able to collect enough applications and refundable deposits, Meeting House Hill will have Natural Gas mains installed.
Meeting House Hill will be supplied with Natural Gas through Deacons Walk - Maybe
Delmarva has not determined how Meeting House Hill would be supplied with Natural Gas. They could be supplied through Drummund North and Deacons Walk, or by a new connection from Polly Drummond Hill Rd, or New Linden Hill Rd.
