Community Trash Service

Deacons Walk has partnered with Evergreen Waste Services to be the preferred trash service of Deacons Walk. This partnership will provide several befits to neighborhood residents:

• Significant Cost Savings
• Reduced truck traffic through the neighborhood
• Less wear and tear on our neighborhood streets
• Less potholes

Neighborhood Discount Rates

As part of the Neighborhood Program Deacons Walk will be eligible for a special Bulk Rate for trash and recycling service based on the percentage of homes that are signed up for service. Once a discount level is activated the new rate will be automatically applied to your next billing cycle.

Of the 208 homes in Deacons Walk 132 homes are currently using Evergreen for their trash removal. (3/30/2017)

• Annual Yard Waste Service: $72
• Yard Waste as you Go: $3/can or $1/bag or bundle
• Home Service: $4/month

Service Details

• Monday pickup of all waste types
• Holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Pickup is delayed by one day for the week following a holiday
  • For Deacons Walk this means if Christmas is on a Monday our pickup will be on Tuesday, all other weeks we will always have a Monday pickup.
• Recyclable items can be found on Evergreen's website.
• Bulk Pickup
  • Evergreen offers free pickup of one bulk item per week
  • e.g.: mattress, chair, water heater, couch, table, grill, bicycle, vacuum
  • For items that are made of metal, over 50lbs or need two people to lift please call so a pickup can be scheduled usually for your next regular service day.

• It is up to each resident to decide on their own to participate or not. To participate each resident will need to sign up on their own.

Why Evergreen?

• Evergreen contacted the Civic Association about participating in their neighborhood discount program.
• Prior to accepting I did a quick one week count of trash cans put out the night before.
  • I was able to count 130 out of the 208 homes in Deacons Walk

• As Evergreen was already the most used trash service in the neighborhood, less residents are required to switch before EVERYONE receives a significant discount on their trash service.
