Student teaching allowed me to dive into my creative side and develop outside the box concepts to enhance the learning experience for the students. United States government was part of their Fall curriculum. I created lessons structured around the election process in the United States. I had made each student an election campaign poster that highlighted who they are and why they should earn a vote. The posters were displayed in the hall and the students loved the work they contributed to their campaign. Faces and names have been removed to protect privacy but original copies were sent home for personal keepsakes. I have attached two of the six campaign posters to display as part of my highlights. Enjoy.
The school I am student teaching at has used a hybrid model of learning from October-November then resumed back to remote learning. Cooking was a big deal for my cooperating teacher and was their "big" activity each week. With restrictions on food and eating, in-person cooking has been put on hiatus. However, as a team, we dropped off cooking supplies to each student's home and did a few remote cooking lessons. Here is a highlight of my cooking recipe that I created for the students.
Halloween was an amazing time during student teaching. The classroom staff agreed on a themed celebration and decided to all dress as different variations of the weather. We took a classroom photo and it was shared by none other than Chicago's own weatherman, Tom Skilling.
