Why so dark?

"Dark Sides" is the project 4º ESO are going to be working on this year.

At the end of last year you decided what you would like to read in 4º ESO. Two of those readings were "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde and "The Diary of Anna Frank".

I thought that probably the best way to link these two completely different works would be to concentrate on the darkest sides of human behaviour. Dorian Gray is so carried away by his own ego that in the end he destroys everyone around him, including himself. Anna Frank, on the contrary, was the victim of one of the most egotistical human beings ever on Earth, responsible for one of the most shameful events in our recent history.

Working on this project you will get familiar with important historical periods such as the Industrial Revolution or WW2. Besides, you will be developing most of the skills needed for acquiring meaningful learning such as the linguistic, digital, learning to learn, social or cultural competences, among others.

Furthermore, you will be practising the contents needed for 4º ESO:

  • Listening and Speaking

  • Reading and Writing

  • Language Knowledge

  • Sociocultural aspects

All of the tasks we work on are geared towards a final product, a digital publication using Joomag or Creatavist which will see the light of day at the end of the academic year.
