Somatic Art Therapy

Somatic (Embodied) Art Therapy

The creative process of art expression comes together with the inherent wisdom of our bodies’ messages in this blended modality. This allows for a further deepening of the healing process.

Dr. Lubbers' somatic background includes training in structural bodywork (hellerwork), somatic experiencing, focusing, voice dialogue, movement awareness, mindfulness, and yoga. In her somatically-oriented, embodied approach to art therapy, she interweaves the body's innate wisdom, and ability to heal with the art therapy process, providing a powerful synergy for healing. Art therapy can be effectively blended with somatic therapies, to amplify their effectiveness.

Dr. Lubbers additionally has developed a unique protocol, a bodymapping process, which she offers in her therapeutic consultations, and in workshops for both health professionals and the public over the last three decades.

Somatic (embodied) art therapy is a powerful therapeutic approach, and is recommended for anyone who wishes to tap into their creativity, resolve emotional and/or physiological traumas, and enhance their self-understanding.
