About Dr. Lubbers


Darcy Lubbers, PhD, MFT, ATR-BC has been in private practice for over twenty years as a marriage and family therapist, clinical art therapist, and somatic psychotherapist in Santa Monica, California. She has received extensive training in the related modalities of marriage and family therapy, clinical art therapy, clinical hypnosis, guided imagery, voice dialogue process, meditation, structural bodywork (hellerwork), somatic psychology, including somatic experiencing and focusing oriented therapy, yoga, movement awareness, and mind body medicine, including ayurvedic healing practices.

Dr. Lubbers' background includes teaching and student training on both undergraduate and graduate levels. For ten years she served as a supervisor for clinical art therapy graduate students at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Ms. Lubbers also also offers workshops/classes and supervision for bodywork practitioners and supervises postgraduate interns in her private practice.

Dr. Lubbers has served as a faculty member for the Los Angeles Hellerwork Training. She is certified in the Miller approach to clinical hypnosis and has co-led The Heart of Hypnosis trainings with Dr. Emmett Miller in N. California. She has additionally served as a consultant and ayurvedic and meditation instructor for the Chopra Center for Well Being in Carlsbad, California.

Dr. Lubbers provided an art therapy program for Bridges to Recovery, a psychological retreat center with locations in Pacific Palisades for individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar illness, and trauma-related issues. She has provided treatment services for the B.I.O.S. Integrative Cancer Center in Los Angeles, California, for Renaissance Malibu, an addictions recovery center in Malibu, CA, for Clearview residential treatment program in Venice, CA, and for My Life Foundation in W. Los Angeles which provides innovative services for individuals with special needs. Dr. Lubbers currently works as a consultant for Psychological Care and Healing (PCH) Treatment center in Mar Vista, CA, providing somatic therapy, art therapy and family therapy.

Dr. Lubbers is also the founder of Magic of Healing, which over the years has offered workshops in mind/body healing, preventive medicine, and the expressive arts, both for the public and for health professionals. Dr. Lubbers teaches a variety of workshops, which include The Magic of Healing, Creating Health, Primordial Sound Meditation, Creative Pathways, and the Art and Soul Workshop.
