Ya never know, this could be interesting... Listed on this page are some links to Internet sites I often find myself visiting or have had some association with the organization they represent (even if it's just buying a sandwich there).
Internet sites with an association to the Cleveland, Ohio area:
The Western Reserve Historical Society is an invaluable Northeast Ohio organization whose stated mission is "To inspire people to discover the American experience by exploring the tangible history of Northeast Ohio.". There are many great places to buy a corned beef sandwich in the Cleveland area. Ask a Clevelander about Slyman's and there's a good chance their eyes will light up. (If you don't like corned beef they serve lots of other good stuff, too.) Slyman's Restaurant
A veteran of World War II who served as an aerial photographer in the Pacific theater, highly accomplished technical photographer for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics facility at Lewis Field (forerunner to today's NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio) and award winning photojournalist/reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Mr. William Wynne trained a Yorkshire terrier -- or Yorkie -- he acquired named Smoky to perform a wide variety of tricks and useful services during and after his military service. Smoky achieved many firsts, including becoming the first working dog of her, at the time, little-known breed. Details about Bill Wynne, Smoky and the book written by Mr. Wynne, "YORKIE DOODLE DANDY", may be found at: www.smokywardog.com
Retired WJW-TV reporter and originator of the popular, long-running "One Tank Trip" feature, Neil Zurcher has created a blog in which he posts photos capturing personalities and past moments in Cleveland television. Neil's site is sure to spark memories for many and may be found at: North East Ohio TV Memories
From 1973 through 1986, beginning as Program Director, Boston native John Gorman built Cleveland radio station WMMS from an obscure spot on the FM dial in to an extremely influential rock n' roll powerhouse. With Cleveland rock fans behind them John and the crew at 'MMS helped launch or jump-start the careers of many big-time acts. They also created a radio station around which an ever-lasting community of fans grew. John has put up a blog allowing WMMS listeners of that era to post recollections of the station and related events, as well as find out about his memoir, "The Buzzard", a book produced with the assistance of the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Tom Feran in which he offers great insight about his 'MMS days. Find John's blog at: http://buzzardbook.wordpress.com/
Veteran of Cleveland radio and television, Mike Olszewski has authored two books relating to the area's radio broadcasting history. The first, "Radio Daze", explores the evolution of Cleveland FM radio as a powerful medium in Rock music. The second, "WIXY 1260, Pixies, Six-packs and Supermen", explores the relatively brief yet dynamic history of Cleveland AM radio station WIXY 1260, which became a very popular top-40 music outlet in the mid-1960s and in to the `70s. Further information about Mike and and his informative books may be found at: Mike Olszewski at The Kent State University Press
