Water Eagle

Naked I slip

into my second skin,

snug as a womb,

comfortable as silk.

Free, I soar

from the edge,

leaving earthbound worries

on a concrete shore.

They cannot follow here

where I fly,

where I spread my wings

to escape

For a little while

while I dream,

while I become my dreams

while anything is possible.

This respite feeds my soul,

washes away

residuals of yesterday,

reminds me who I am.
