Dinesh Katre is former Senior Director and Head of Department of Human-Centred Design and Computing (HCDC) Group at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, INDIA. C-DAC is India's premier R & D institution and a scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. He joined C-DAC in October 1992 as a research associate and founded the Human-Centred Design & Computing Group at C-DAC. Over the years, he has developed a unique combination of skills and knowledge in the fields of design, human-computer interaction, user centric technological innovation, heritage computing, multimedia systems, information management and digital preservation. Apart from the positions held in C-DAC, he has also been active in the professional societies like IFIP where he has been a Vice Chair twice.
