Professional & Educational Qualifications

Dinesh Katre obtained his M.Des. from Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Bombay in 1992. Subsequently, after joining C-DAC his growing interest in user interface design led him to register and complete his Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani during 2000-2005, which was fully sponsored and hosted by C-DAC. During his doctoral research, he learnt software engineering, cognitive science and user centric technological innovation.

Katre has always been open to acquire the knowledge of different disciplines through rigorous study and training, as a preparation for working on multi-disciplinary projects. Therefore, in order to prepare for evolving the National Digital Preservation Programme as required by MeitY, he attended the Digital Preservation Training Programme (DPTP) at University of London Computer Centre (ULCC), London, UK to understand the state-of-the-art in the emerging field of digital preservation. Subsequently in 2015, he also completed the High-level Training on ISO 16363 Audit & Certification of Trustworthy Digital Repositories at Den Hague, Netherlands.

Over the years, Katre has developed a unique combination of skills and knowledge in the fields of design, human-computer interaction, cognitive science, heritage computing, multimedia systems, information management and digital preservation. He is also trained in Hindustani Classical Singing for about 4 years.
