One of the original founders of the adventuring party The Knights of Mistmore, Katia was appointed Duchess of Vassa, and now lives in Darmshall, the new capitol of the Duchy of Vassa. All is not peaceful in Vassa, however, and Katia is quite busy these days. Dragons have nested in the wreckage of Zhengyi’s old keep, and reports have surfaced of a wild-eyed priest of evil who is seeking to unite the non-human tribes under his own banner. What will come of this situation remains to be seen, but Katia is the one to resolve it. Katia is a no-nonsense, hard-hitting paladin with enormous command presence. She is very direct and to the point. While she has had many suitors over the years, including High Lord Stone and the Viscount of Mistmore in Cormyr,, she has never settled down with one man. She is very good friends with Lilijana from their adventuring days together, and is also good friends with Niteshade as the three of them have also had an adventure or two together. She has a younger sister, Daria, and a younger brother, Cedric.

A wise, one-eyed warrior-priest referred to as the "Unseeing Regent" by the townsfolk, Lord Mentzer has been running Darmshall since the death of his sister (the former Mayor) at the hands of the fell umbra drake named Draighoch.

Twenty years ago a mysterious woman with silver hair purchased a "cursed" site in town and built the Inn of the Slumbering Drake. She stands 6 feet tall with long, flowing silver-white hair. She otherwise appears, however, to be in her early 40s. She has high cheekbones and slender facial features. She rarely smiles - her single imperfection is the perpetual frown etched onto her countenance. She always wears fine silk gowns and flowery perfumes. She is pessimistic, sullen, and speaks with a soft, melodious voice. She frequently is seen with her Pseudodragon (Ixnay) perched on her shoulder.

The Lady Chauntessa's generosity is well-known throughout Darmshall, and she not only funds many community projects but also hosts a few annual costume balls open to the entire town, complete with complimentary food and drink.
