My Story
I, ADARSH PURI, was born in 1948. It was at the age of two that a wooden gate, on which children were swinging, came off its hinges. As I was standing close by, watching these children at play, it fell on me. The right hip blood supply was disrupted and over the next few days, I began losing right leg movements. My parents first noticed this when I was unable to sit on the floor at prayer time. The femur head was deformed. Thus began my woes.
GROWING UP
I recall my childhood spent in and out of hospitals - lengthy medications; doctors' visitations; entire leg kept immobile in plasters; strapped to hospital beds in traction; the leg remaining bent at the knee; physiotherapy and wasted muscle electric stimulation, et al.
It was at the age of twelve that right leg shortening first occurred. Initially, the difference was minor but over the years, it increased over two inches and more. At sixteen, I began feeling a constant pain between the right hip and knee. I soon realized that its intensity was increasing and the pain remained for most waking hours peaking during the evenings.
The orthopedic surgeons differed in their opinions. The choice was limited somewhere between a right leg amputation and a permanent right hip joint fix. Both were unacceptable.
During school years, I played all major games and trekked deep into the mountains. In 1970, packed with honors and masters, I, like any other young lad, stepped into the outside world to seek a career. Being physically disadvantaged, I realized that most normal careers were already closed for me. The one legged race had begun. This alone, perhaps, made me ever more determined to prove everyone wrong.
LIFE AS AN ADVENTURE
In retrospect, I now believe, it was a sense of defiance that gave me a kick start and a resolve to set my own course in whatever I did with my life. Ever since, I have charted my own career and its timing. And, it has been so ever since 1971. I had turned my life into an adventure.
To record some careers, among others, I went deep-sea fishing; built aerial ropeways and tramways in the mountains; undertook site steel structural fabrication and erection assignments; contracted engineering maintenance jobs with thermal power stations, etc.
CHANGING TRACKS
By 1983, I had considerably slowed. I joined the United States and Foreign Commercial Service as its Marketing Advisor, and, later the United States Agency for International Development as its Project Officer and Program Management Specialist. I represented Yugoslav and German manufacturers and suppliers with the Indian buying agencies; a British aircraft brokering firm; and today am a Traditional Reiki Grandmaster and Master Initiator. Some journey!
NOT GIVING UP, YET!
It was during late eighties, that I accepted a walking aid for the first time. The pain was now sharp having crossed all tolerance levels. As the current assignment did not permit flexible working hours, I resigned the position early 1992. Since then remaining in bed, I set up a communications network in the bedroom and continued working. I was not giving up, yet. Although, I economized on my walking, I drove a car that became my motorized wheel chair.
Friends and doctors insisted I agree for a hip replacement. Fortunately, I was privy to at least four known cases where persons who having undergone this surgery had it repeated with little or no relief. In some, cases the pain had actually increased. My response to the replacement suggestion was that not until the hip gave way either in an accident or the head went through the wall.
THE REIKI MIRACLE
It was in October 1996 that Anita, my wife, who had witnessed a Reiki healing at her work place, set up an appointment with a Reiki healing channel. I fiercely turned down her request to meet the appointment, as I abhorred visiting a Godman or a quack.
Finally, to maintain domestic harmony, I went. Rest is history. The healer worked on me that evening. Upon returning home, I stepped out of the car, and, without realizing it, I had left the walking aid behind. I felt relief and by next morning, the intolerable pain was not there.
I was attuned on October 19, 1996 to Level I; November 05, 1996 to Level II; September 29, 1997 to Level III; and on June 28, 1998, I received Grandmaster attunement, along with Karuna Reiki Master Teacher Certification. Later I was introduced to Magnified Healing, Lama Fera System - the process was endless.
I confirm that:
- REIKI has liberated me from physical affliction on October 01, 1996 and, ever since, I lead a normal life;
- The right hip bone, which protruded like a golf ball, has since considerably receded and the spine is more or less straight;
- I now stand straight and even stretch my spine backwards;
- While sitting, I am able to place the right leg over the left - something that I had not done for past forty-seven years;
- Since October 1996, I spurn alcohol and mostly eat a vegetarian diet;
- I have not used pain-killers or sleeping pills since;
- I sleep like a child each night being completely rid of distressful and pulsating pain;
- I do not use walking aids; and most importantly of all,
- No surgery was ever performed, no medication used, no therapies involved and no religious rites invoked.
It was during the initial 21 healing days that I experienced the ultimate supreme REIKI healing energies. I had an overwhelming urge to offer healing time, [and now training and attunements], to anyone condemned by modern medical sciences to live in despair.
Moreover, Center for Spiritual Healing and Research® was born on January 01, 1997.
CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL HEALING
AND RESEARCH ® (CSHR)
The Center is focused to concretizing a facility to provide non-traditional healing alternatives separate from those available through modern and conventional medical practices. The facility provides:
· Secretariat and logistics support to non-traditional alternate healing practitioners;
· Record healing successes and failures and follow-up on cases;
· Develop and maintain healer/healee data bank;
· Set up periodical meetings, seminars, training programs and provide beneficiaries an experience sharing platform; and,
· Create awareness through a proposed newsletter highlighting successes; promote alternate healing therapies; and document verifiable stories.
The facility endeavors to reach suffering and ailing segments that have failed to gain significantly from traditional healing practices, having either lost hope or condemned to continue suffering for life.
The Center believes that non-traditional healing facilities need to be set up as commonly and conveniently located as medical clinics. Through these facilities, healing must be made available to all seeking such therapies without having to travel too far from their places of residence. To this end, CSHR is creating, training, and equipping channels to practice and attune healees at their clinics.
CSHR plans establishing accessible citywide nodal agencies for individuals seeking alternate healing therapies. The nodal agencies will provide healee nearest healing channel contact. In addition, healing channels residing in a particular area will be able to enlist their services with the agency. CSHR believes this will assist standardize consultant healing practices.
