Going into my senior year at Fredonia University, I saw an opportunity to elevate Fredonia Radio Systems' everything from promos and sweepers to PSAs. I began by producing a few sweepers, which impressed the program directors enough to name me Productions Manager.
In this role, I led a team of producers, overseeing their work and helping develop their skills, all while continuing my role as a play-by-play announcer for our sports broadcasts. My efforts contributed directly to the station receiving four award nominations that year all tied to projects I led or supported. One nomination was for our former hockey play-by-play announcer. Although he had graduated, I worked with our sports director to edit and polish his submission to help him earn one more award. Another nomination went to one of my production assistants, who was recognized for Best Promo something I’m incredibly proud to have mentored.
The highlight came on March 7th, 2020, the day before my birthday is when I was honored with the award for Best Sweeper/Liner produced for the 2019-2020 year. This achievement is the highlight of my radio career and I am super proud of pushing the boundary. Though I didn't win for Best Play-by-Play for women’s basketball, it showed me there's still room to grow, and I'm excited to keep improving.
