In December 2019, I returned to my alma mater, Ward Melville High School, as a wrestling coach intern. As a former wrestler myself, I knew the team’s end-of-season tradition: a celebratory dinner featuring a highlight video recap of the year.
The previous year's video had been created by a student on the team, and while it was a great effort, I wanted to take that responsibility off the athletes' shoulders. I knew the time and focus needed to finish a season strong—and having experience in video production, I decided to step in and produce the highlight video myself.
The final piece is a 22-minute video, structured in sections that keep the pacing engaging—it feels much shorter when watched. It was important to me to not only capture the action on the mat, but also the spirit, camaraderie, and hard work of the team throughout the season.
