Tenderly My Dark & Most Beautiful Angel

By Crag Jensen

I remember the hills, summer strong and meadows below, soft beneath my feet.

Burning sun, floating, falling in a swash of glowing – red and orange and purple beyond purple.

I trod my way to the gentle spot – no one knew but only me and he - my dark and most beautiful

Angel and me.

Music springing forth from a secret well – we supped on forbidden melodies draped in harmonies interdites.

Tenderly, my dark and most beautiful one and me, tenderly we filled our curious existence with rhythm & rhyme & forgotten dances he stole from a place, perhaps even a bit more heavenly.

“Tonight” he shouted out across the ancient high-lands whence we stood. “Tonight we shall revel in the great City of Lies!”

“We shall indulge our souls in strong drink and wine and verboten Rauch. And the chaste and the harlots shall gather ‘round so that our seed not rot in the forgotten gutters therein”

And so it came to pass: my dark and most beautiful angel & me, alone on yonder hill, making love to a future ne’er-to-be; forever-to-be.

Tenderly, my dark and most beautiful angel and me.
