To whom it may concern:
My experience in music technology dates back to when I was a teenager, recording songs at home. Before the age of twenty, I recorded several songs in a small recording studio in Jamestown New York while attending college there. When I was twenty these recordings facilitated my being asked to be the keyboardist, a singer and guitarist in my first professional band. I played with this band for three years until being offered a jazz piano scholarship at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix Arizona. After receiving a BA in Music Theory and Composition with a minor in piano I became involved in a band (Rhema) that eventually procured a recording contract with Curb-MCA Records as well as the opportunity to write and record several songs as well as act for the Pia Zadora cult classic “Voyage of the Rock Aliens.” And, although, the movie was not a great success, the experience led to me spending many, many hours in various recording studios around the country composing, performing and producing a wide variety of music. During this time I worked with and learned a great deal from various studio engineers such as Dave Brown and Steve Escalia, both of whom had worked as engineers on various Fleetwood Mac, Glen Campbell, Stevie Nicks, Alice Cooper, Def Leopard, Geoff Emerick, Wayland Jennings and Frank Zappa projects. And this then led to me procuring the position as Head Jingle Producer for Network Thirty, the jingle production arm of Pantheon Recording Studios in Phoenix.
In the nineties I made my living as a pianist/vocalist at Lil Ditties in Phoenix as well as at several other nightclubs around the country such as Baja Beach Club and Magnums in Chicago and Rum Runners in Lansing MI. I also began my own production company as well as built my own small recording studio. During this time-period I had the opportunity to compose, perform, engineer and produce classical as well as jazz and rock music in the comfort of my own studio. (I continued playing nightclubs and, more recently, cruise ships into the two-thousands until present.) Over the last two or three decades I, of course, made the switch from analog to digital recording. This gave me the opportunity to learn and utilize developments in recording over the years such as MIDI sequencing, effects bussing, mic-ing techniques, noise reduction, the proper and optimum use of effects (such as reverb, delay, compression, EQ, chorus/modulation, auto-tuning, etc.) and multi-track recording on a variety of analog machines to the multi-track digital recording software of today. Also, proper (analog and digital) mix down and mastering techniques should be included here.
And here is why I am excited about the opportunity the position your position would offer me, to pass down the knowledge I have acquired from my education, affiliations and experience to others.
