The quantity of data, particularly quantitative data, collected in the course of this research greatly exceeded expectations and, as a result, the findings presented here represent only key selections from a wider data set. Having emerged from the data these findings, it should also be noted, better reflect the concerns of Research Question 1 (scaffolding and peer support) than Research Question 2 (the nature of connections).
Unless otherwise stated all findings and quotations presented are drawn from extracts taken from both qualitative questionnaire responses and interview transcripts.
