(note these are both daughters of William and Sarah Goninan. William was a brother of Alfred Goninan snr of St Just and an uncle to Alfred, Ralph and Edward,etc.)
Thus there were just 35 people in the UK with the name Goninan (in its various forms). Of course this does not include married daughters such as my own grandmother who was living in Redruth but is then a Saunders. The comparable number back in 1841 was 39 which I guess further supports the view that the Cornish left ‘home’ in their droves. The population if England and Wales more than doubled over the same period.
