Copthorne School

This site is dedicated to the memory of Copthorne Secondary Modern School which existed in Coventry between 1951 and 1972. Over time it is hoped more information and photographs will be added - but this will depend on material being submitted by its readers. STOP PRESS! - The Disasterous "Upgrade"

In 2020 Google pressed me to "upgrade" this website - which I did believing it would be lost if I did not do so. But after the upgrade no one was able to locate the website!

Resolving this problem was not that difficult - but it took me a year to discover how it was done!

The "upgrade" has proved detrimental in another respect.

many images are now smaller than they were originally

nor do they enlarge if you click on them as they use to!

and unfortunately I don't think there is a simple fix for this.

Nor am I now able to fix images where I want to fix them. The two small images below (taken I'm fairly sure in 1957) have consequently landed on this page!

The bottom photo shows Mr Hall and Ms. Nancy Wells, the then head female teacher, the head boy, Ted Laban, next to Ms. Wells and the head girl, Gail Lawrence, next to Mr Hall. The other pupils I assume are the school prefects.
