Fisherton Street Gateway Project

The great news is that the Fisherton Street Gateway project is going ahead. The main aim of these changes ultimately to increase footfall for the traders on this part of the city.

The changes will transform Fisherton Street bringing wider pavements, improved air quality, comfortable environment for pedestrians and greater safety for cyclists.

You can make comments during the ‘Meet the Contractor’ event for on Tuesday 11th July (see below). At the event we will be providing information about the construction phase and you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. I think you may have received an invitation email to the event already.

Here is the latest press release about the event that will take place on Tuesday 11 July 2023 at the United Reformed Church in Fisherton Street between 2pm and 7pm.

COGS Presentation "Turning Salisbury into a Cycling Utopia"

This took place on Tuesday 27th October 2020 and was a fascinating insight into the perspectives and thoughts of our Guest speaker David Wilson as how  the city could be made into a more pleasant place where streets could be prioritise for people and not for cars.  David is a chartered civil engineer and local resident who is head of the Transport & Movement topic group on Salisbury's Neighbourhood Plan steering group. He has over 30 years experience in traffic engineering and highway planning and works as Head of Transport Implementation for a neighbouring Council.

This presentation was delivered on zoom and we were lucky to have Jeremy Nettle amongst our view along with John Farquahar both of whom are interested in the perspectives of People Friendly Streets Salisbury.   We will be working with David and the Neighbourhood Plan team to explore funding to improve other into and across the city.
