About COGS

Formed in 1994, this South Wiltshire based cycling group consists of over 170 active cyclists from all walks of life, living in and around the Salisbury area.

COGS is managed by a small team of volunteers who work as a committee giving their time to assist with a wide range of activities and interact with a wide range of organisations. More information about the committee can be found here

COGS organises a programme of family leisure rides, weekday evening rides and various Sunday rides throughout the year. These often visit a local village - and the village Local - before returning home via less well known routes (click here for COGS Diary).

COGS campaigns to improve all kinds of facilities for cyclists in the area, from cycle paths to cycle parking and keeps cycling safety at the forefront of local issues and developments.

COGS is a Sustrans Ranger Group and works to provide support on the routes 24 and 45 as they approach and leave the city. COGS have been active in financing and fitting signs on these routes.

COGS supports the Bikeability cycle training programme. Several COGS members are qualified Bikeability instructors and work with schools to provide training to youngsters.

COGS negotiates discounts for its members with local retailers who serve the needs of cyclists (click here for Cycle Shopping).

COGS has now established itself as the premier cycling body in Salisbury & South Wiltshire and recognised as being so by various local authorities who have cycling as part of their remit.

COGS meetings take place every month, and all COGS members and prospective members are welcome to come along and join in the structured discussion on a wide range of cycling topics, including local cycle network issues.
