Letter from Ms. Isabella Swaim to Mrs. W.R. "Sarah" Lousie Coe Goley

Jun 4, 1928

Included inside of envelope was some newspaper clippings, one about Swaim family gift of a desk, small chest and trunk, all of historic significance to the Greensboro Historical Museum. The desk was at one time the property of O. Henry's "William Sydney Porter", grandfather "William Swaim", owner of Greensboro oldest newspaper, the Patriot. Logan Swaim donated the items to the museum all from the old Swaim home, his father, Lyndon Swaim first went to work for his cousin, William Swaim in 1835 at the paper. Logan's grandfather General John M. Logan came to America in 1821, and later from Ireland his chest was sent to him, he also owned the trunk.
