September Meeting

Our summer break is over and our first meeting of the fall will be Monday, September 14, at 7 pm at the Sunsites Community Building. The main point of discussion will be the proposal of the Fire Department that we move our Lapidary equipment from its current location in the Arts and Crafts Building behind the Fire Department to a larger room in their Richland building. The post-meeting program will feature a half hour segment from DVD on the Geology of Erosion and Weathering.

September Field Trip

Henri has located a nice vein of Fluorite with beautiful green and purple crystals just this side of Silver City. He will bring samples to the meeting. You will be impressed. We will meet at the Willcox Safeway parking lot at 8:30 am Saturday, September 19, for an 8:45 departure.

July and August Field Trip Report

On Saturday, July 18th, we went to the “W” Mountain area north of Willcox to see some Native American rock art. On Saturday, August 15, we went to French Joe Canyon in the Whetstones. Pictures from both trips are at http://picasaweb.google.com/cochisecountyrock/ .
